We have built, run,
and sold relationship
businesses.

Solid is a small team of operators and senior technologists who have built AI companies. We have owned the operating plan, sat across from customers at renewal, built and delivered the forecast, and served on boards. That is the experience and judgment we bring to the work.

We tell you what we found,
then build what holds up.

The people you meet direct the work and stay with it.

The operators and technologists in the first conversation lead the engagement through delivery and do the hands-on work themselves. The parts that matter most are never handed off.

We recommend against building when that is the right answer.

Some problems need an organizational or process fix, not another model. We say so, because a system or agent that should not exist becomes the most expensive one to govern and maintain.

We are selective about the work we take on.

We work with leaders who have a hard problem and want to work through it alongside us. The work ends in a system running in your business, not a deck. If we are not the right partner for the problem, we will say so before you hire us.

Joel Passen

Joel Passen

Joel has spent more than 25 years in B2B technology as an operator, founder, investor, and board member. He started his first consulting firm, Gravity Technologies, in 1998. Since then he has held operating roles at SaaS and AI-enabled SaaS companies, co-founded Newton, which Paycor acquired in 2016, worked at venture capital firms, and built an AI-native infrastructure company. He has raised capital across multiple funding cycles and served on boards.

Nathaniel Hazelton

Nathaniel Hazelton

CTO

Nathaniel began his career as a hardware engineer after graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and he still builds to hardware standards: systems that work, hold up, and scale. About 15 years ago he moved into software at a SaaS company that was later acquired. He has since served as CTO of an AI infrastructure company and has built with large language models since their earliest commercial releases. He holds Anthropic's Claude Certified Architect, Foundations credential.
